职位设立的目的：
此职位将负责计划和执行合资公司在宁夏和西北省份区域适应的商业杂交种的玉米育种工作。此职位将作为研发主管负责西北玉米生产区域的运作，领导育种材料、育种方法、产品注册的开发、调配和管理，研发试验和研发中心相关活动的管理。此职位的成功可以表现在目标区域产量评估网络，杂交种在注册过程中的发展/提高，通过合资公司业务向农民提供新产品的有效管理。
主要工作职责：
1、 研发中心管理-带领团队专注于目标市场所开展的研发活动。
- 有效地聘用和保留育种工作人员，产量试验的计划/部署/数据收集。
- 日常运营活动符合杜邦公司的职业道德、环境监管、安全和尊重人员的核心价值观的期望。
2、 玉米育种-领导重点目标环境和适应区域的育种活动，发展育种目标、育种计划和种质资源评估/理解。领导杂交种的性状、数据分析和提高活动。将对种质资源的理解应用于杂交种创造、进步和商业活动中。发现和发展适用于目标区域环境的新型杂交种和种质资源。
3、 使用被授权的育种技术-与铁岭先锋研发部门密切合作，使用被其授权的育种技术，例如双单倍体育种、基因标记分子育种，理解基于不同环境和遗传因素的种质资源适应性。将新兴技术纳入到自交系和种质资源的发展过程中。
4、 产品注册-与当地注册部门、育种家和委员会建立有效网络，以演示合资公司感兴趣注册试验的所有阶段。把合资公司描绘成产品方面的研发专家。倡导和带领活动，以最大限度地在当地省级系统注册成功。
5、 商业团队的联系/网络。
参与涉及产品、农艺服务、销售和其他商业团队活动的跨职能活动，以提高产品定位和商业成功。
教育资质和经验要求：
作物育种、作物遗传学或农学专业博士毕业，4-6年作物育种或产量试验管理活动相关田间工作经验。
有玉米育种或遗传学经验者优先考虑。
能力要求：
双语沟通技能（英语和中文）。较强的口头和书面沟通技能。
优秀的个人交际能力所必须的有效地开展强有力的与各种不同人群的内部和外部工作关系。
强大的自我激励领导能力以激励他人。
- 对小块研究技术导致高质量数据的理解是必不可少的。
- 精通玉米育种和生产，以能够通过产品商业化、与业务伙伴合作以及与关键终端用户和客户了解产品和需求来改进产品。
Job Purpose:
This position is responsible for planning and conducting maize breeding activities to develop commercial hybrids suitable for the Dunhuang-Pioneer joint venture business in Ningxia and Provinces of North Western China. This position will operate as the research leader in the North Western maize production zones and lead the development, deployment, and management of breeding materials, breeding methods, product registration, and activities related to research trials and research center management. Success in this position can be demonstrated by effective management of a yield evaluation network in the targeted area, hybrid development/advancement in the registration process, and delivering new products to the farmers through the Dunhuang-Pioneer JV business.
Duties/Responsibilities
1. Research Center Management- Lead a team focused on R&D activities for the target market.
- Effectively hire and retain breeding staff, planning/deployment/data collection of yield trials.
- Operation of activities to meet expectations of Dupont Core Values system of ethics, environmental stewardship, safety, and respect for people.
2. Maize Breeding-Lead breeding activities focused on target environments and Adaptation zones, develop breeding objectives, breeding plans, and germplasm evaluation/understanding. Lead hybrid characterization, data analysis, and advancement activities. Use germplasm understanding in hybrid creation, advancement, and commercialization activities. Identify and develop novel hybrids/germplasm useful in breeding for target environments.
3. Utilize enabling breeding technologies-Connect to Tieling-Pioneer R&D network to deploy and utilize enabling breeding technologies such as double haploid breeding, molecular breeding based on SNP markers, and understanding germplasm adaptation based on environmental and genetic understanding. Incorporate newly emerging technologies into the inbred and germplasm development process.
4. Product Registration-Effectively network with local registration officials, breeders, and committees to represent JV interests in all stages of registration trialing. Represent JV as R&D expert in product understanding, position. Advocate and lead activities to maximize registration success in local provincial system.
5. Commercial team connection/networking.
Participate in cross functional activities related to production, agronomy, sales, and other commercial team activities to improve product positioning and commercial success.
Educational qualifications and Experience
- PhD in Plant Breeding, Plant Genetics, or Agronomy with 4-6 years of field experience associated with plant breeding or yield trial management activities in an applied breeding program.
- Experience in maize breeding or genetics is preferred.
Competencies
- Bi-lingual communication skills (English/Mandarin(native)). Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent personal interaction skills required for effectively developing strong internal and external working relationships with a diverse group of people.
- Strong self-motivation with leadership capabilities to motivate others.
- Understanding of small plot research techniques leading to high quality data is essential.
- Familiarity with maize breeding and production to be capable of advancing products through to commercialization, and interacting with Business partners, key end users and customers to understand products and needs.
